Eugene Wilson out against UCF, final injury report for Florida Gators
GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Florida Gators receiver Eugene Wilson will miss his third straight game for the Gators against the UCF Knights. Wilson was injured during the Florida-Samford game in week two and missed the first two SEC games against Texas A&M and Mississippi State and underwent surgery prior to Florida’s game against Mississippi State. Wilson was able to return to the practice field this week and warmed up prior to the game but will not suit up.
“We feel good about his progress, head coach Billy Napier said on Wednesday night. “(Wilson) Has done some things in practice. He took some reps today.”
Despite missing two of the first four games, Wilson is still second on the team with 13 receptions for 191 yards and a touchdown.
“We’re definitely a better team with Tre Wilson for sure,” Napier said. “But I do think (Chimere) Dike and (Elijhah) Badger, in particular, stepped up in a major way. We have the ability to in formation plays to get the primary guys in position, much like we’ve done the past. We’ll take what we have each week and we’ll formation it and try to make those guys a primary and secondary.”
