GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Florida Atlantic fifth-year grad transfer guard Alijah Martin has officially signed with Florida, the school announced Monday. He’s the third member of UF’s 2024 transfer class.

Martin joins forward Sam Alexis and center Rueben Chinyelu in reloading Florida’s roster via the portal. The Gators are coming off their highest-scoring season in program history, the team’s most regular season wins since 2016-17 and first NCAA Tournament appearance in three years.

The 6-foot-2 Martin was a key member of FAU’s 2023 Final Four team, totaling 1,476 career points (11.9 per game), 616 rebounds (5.0) and 242 3-point field goals (2.0) over the course of his four seasons at FAU. Martin earned all-conference honors in each of the past three seasons, averaging better than 13 points every year.

Martin has 17 career games with 20-plus points, including a career-high 34 points in a 2022 win vs. FIU. This past season, he had a 25-point performance against Texas A&M in a 96-89 win at the ESPN Events Invitational.

Martin committed to the Gators over Ole Miss after taking official visits to both programs in April.

“We are elated to add Alijah to our program for the 2024-25 season,” Florida head coach Todd Golden said. “Alijah has had great success throughout his career at FAU on both a personal and team level. He played a huge role in getting FAU to the Final Four two years ago and earning another tournament appearance this past season. He’s been incredibly consistent as both a scorer and defender and will add even more explosiveness to our group. He will step onto our campus as a college graduate and will provide experience and leadership for the program.”

Martin averaged 16.5 points per game over FAU’s Conference USA Tournament and NCAA Tournament runs in 2023, helping the Owls to the Final Four and earning All-Tournament Team honors. He scored 30 points in FAU’s NCAA first-round win vs. Memphis and 26 points in the Final Four vs. San Diego State.

Martin is the nation’s No. 8 combo guard and No. 63 overall transfer in the On3 Industry rankings. A native of Summit, Miss., out of North Pike High School, Martin averaged 25 points, nine rebounds, five assists and three steals as a senior, also earning All-State honors as a quarterback.

Florida’s incoming 2024 class now includes Martin, Chinyelu (Washington State), Alexis (Chattanooga) and freshman Isaiah Brown of Orlando.
