WATCH: Florida receives championship banner, key to the city of Gainesville

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The Florida Gators celebrated their 2025 national title on Saturday in The Swamp. The UF men’s basketball team was recognized at halftime of the spring game, receiving the key to the city of Gainesville and their championship banner.
The players and coaches were introduced one by one out of the tunnel, with Alijah Martin carrying the SEC Tournament trophy, Will Richard holding the West Regional Championship trophy and Walter Clayton Jr. toting the National Championship trophy.
Florida athletic director Scott Stricklin then gave a speech and introduced Todd Golden, who addressed the crowd of 56,563 and unveiled the banner. Two groups of players then sat down for a brief Q&A before Clayton stood up and fired up the fans one last time.

Todd Golden on Florida’s championship celebration
“Incredible. First of all, I just want to thank Billy [Napier] and his staff for allowing us to take part in the spring game. Obviously a tight schedule and an opportunity for us to be a part of a great crowd without having to schedule a couple of different things. So appreciate him and his willingness to let us come be part of this. But yeah, it’s amazing. I thought our guys deserved something like this, to be celebrated one last time before our guys before guys start going their separate ways. It’s bittersweet in that regard, but awesome to be able to celebrated together.

“Credit our administration. Trying to put together things in a short period of time is really difficult to do. Our guys, especially our older guys, are going to be moving on to go train for the draft. You don’t know if they’re going to be around. To be able to put something like this together on kind of short notice and do a great job honoring out players in front of our fans, which to me is the most important thing, people that have been supporting us really all year got to see these guys together again one last time. It was special. I really appreciate them doing that for our program.”
