Florida commits impress in first full weekend of High School Football
As the high school football season kicks off, the Florida Gators 2023 class saw live action on Friday, where many Gators’ commits showed off their skills under the lights. Throughout the state, many UF commits impressed with their performances on the first full weekend of high school football.
Gators commits shine under the Friday night lights
Out-of-state commit Kelby Collins posted eight tackles, two for loss and a sack on Friday night.
As we mentioned in our story on Friday, Buchholz and Columbia faced off at Citizen’s field on Thursday night. For the Bobcats, UF athlete commit Creed Whittemore lit up the Tigers’ defense while at quarterback, as Gavin Hill looked much improved on defense. Whittemore posted 115 passing yards, 81 rushing yards, and multiple touchdowns to his impressive stat line. As the Bobcats’ defense forced four turnovers, Jaden Robinson and the Tigers’ defense left the field rarely.
In the Orlando area, four-star receiver commit Aidan Mizell went down with a knee injury in the first half, according to Nick Marcinko. Kam James posted a touchdown for the Olympia Titans.
Gators receiver commit Tyree Patterson posted a four-catch day, accumulating 100 yards including a touchdown on a screen pass.
As for Gators cornerback commit Ja’Keem Jackson, he posted six tackles and added a pass breakup. While he’ll play defensive back in college, UF commit Jordan Castell added a touchdown on offense last night.
Jumping to Tampa Bay, Eugene Wilson III followed up his first performance with another massive stat line, coming up with six receptions for 118 yards and two touchdowns, adding an interception on defense.

Isaiah Nixon, Gators four-star EDGE commit, posted two sacks and eight tackles in a 28-0 win over Northeast.
Florida commits show off in Jacksonville
Moving to Jacksonville, four-star defensive back Sharif Denson was not targeted often but locked up in coverage when he was thrown at. He was donning UF arm sleeves on Friday night against the Ponte Vedra Sharks. Afterward, he told AllGators’ Brandon Carroll “I ain’t going anywhere.“
As for Florida’s quarterback commit Marcus Stokes, he was banged up in a rough game against Andrew Jackson. While the rain poured, Stokes struggled to get a solid grip on the ball and took multiple big hits, one coming from South Carolina commit Grayson Howard. Stokes ended the game with one rushing touchdown as Andrew Jackson won 30-10.
Gators running back commit Treyaun Webb went nuclear on Friday night, rushing for over 200 yards and adding three touchdowns as Trinity Christian Academy escaped Ed White 48-40.
One 2024 prospect stands out on Friday Night
One priority UF 2024 target put on a show on Friday was quarterback DJ Lagway of Willis, Texas. Lagway posted a 21-27 performance for 336 passing yards and 68 rushing yards, finishing with seven touchdowns (six passing, one rushing).
