Florida forward CJ Felder enters the transfer portal
GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Florida Gators forward CJ Felder has entered the transfer portal, On3’s Jamie Shaw has learned.
Felder is the fourth Florida basketball player to enter the transfer portal since the end of the season, joining big man Jason Jitoboh, forward Niels Lane and guard Kowacie Reeves. After a 16-17 finish in 2022-23, the Gators will look to make necessary changes heading into Todd Golden’s second season in Gainesville.
In January, Felder took a step away from the Gators basketball team for personal reasons and returned in February. Felder played an average of 12.5 minutes across the 2022-23 season, posting 2.3 points and 2.9 rebounds per game. The senior’s best game of the year came in a 88-78 win over Kennesaw State, where he posted seven points, two steals, six rebounds and a block.
The 6-foot-7, 240-pound forward struggled to contribute with the Gators and will look at other options to finish his college eligibility. Despite his struggles, the veteran forward will be an option in the portal given his tremendous amount of experience.

Felder’s journey to Florida
Out of high school, Felder enrolled at Boston College, spending two years with the Golden Eagles before transferring to Florida for the 2021-22 season. Prior to leaving the Golden Eagles, Felder averaged 9.7 points and 5.9 rebounds in 19 appearances, starting in 17 games.
During his first season at Florida, Felder averaged 3.5 points and 2.3 rebounds across 30 appearances. During his junior season, Felder drained 14 three-pointers on 36 attempts, shooting a team-high 38.9% from behind the arc.
Moving forward, Golden and his Florida staff are making their rounds in the NCAA transfer portal, contacting a wide variety of prospects ahead of next year. With Florida’s attrition, the Gators will have plenty of room to make changes and add players both from the portal and through the high school ranks.
