Florida Gators 2024 football schedule released
GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The Florida Gators 2024 football schedule is complete. With the addition of the Oklahoma Sooners and Texas Longhorns, the league chose to have an eight-game schedule. All of the other 14 SEC schools will play one of the two new SEC teams. On Wednesday, the South Eastern Conference released the eight opponents for all 16 teams.
Despite the conference slate not going to nine games, the Gators will not lose any of their traditional rivals in 2024. Florida will have dates with Georgia, Tennessee, and LSU. The Gators are also scheduled to play the Miami Hurricanes in 2024 and 2025.
”Florida and Miami playing periodically is good for college football in general, but especially in the state of Florida,” UF Athletic Director Scott Stricklin said when the game was announced. ”It is a great rivalry with two storied programs and in line with our current philosophy of trying to schedule a minimum of 10 Power Five opponents annually.”
The Gators will have three non-conference Power 5 opponents in 2024. Florida will host Miami and UCF before ending the season against the Florida State Seminoles. It will be a challenging schedule but one that should be easy to sell tickets to with marquee games at home all season.

Gators make the trip to Austin
Back in 2019 the Gators and Longhorns agreed to a future schedule. Texas and Florida hadn’t played since 1940. The two teams have met just three times and have not played a game against each other since 1940.
It will be just the fourth time they’ve met on the football field, with Texas holding a 2-0-1 series advantage over Florida. The two tied 7-7 in 1924, and Texas shut out Florida 12-0 and 26-0 in 1939 and 1940, respectively.
It will be Florida’s first trip back to Austin since 1939.
The Gators and Longhorns had scheduled a non-conference home-and-home for 2030 and 2031. The league decided to kick the future schedule can down the street for 2024, holding at eight conference games. When Texas and Oklahoma join in 2024 the conference will do away with East and West Divisions. The two teams with the best record in the regular season will meet in the SEC Championship game.
