Gators coach Billy Napier announced Thursday that Tony Hill has joined his inaugural Florida staff. Hill will hold the title of associate director, sports health for football.

Hill spent the 2020 season as the associate director of sports medicine/head football athletic trainer at Louisiana under Napier. He was part of the 2021 Sun Belt Conference Championship and New Orleans Bowl Championship.

Prior to his one year at Louisiana, Hill was the head football athletic trainer at Colorado State during the 2017-20 seasons and also oversaw efforts for football at Fresno State from 2008-16.

Hill was an athletic training intern at Florida working with football and men’s tennis from 2003-04. Hill has spent over 20 years in the athletic training field. He has previously worked at Arizona (2016-17), Cal (2007-08), Texas (2006-07), and Kentucky (2004-06).

Hill joins the Gators army

Hill is the 22nd off-field hire that has been made to Napier’s staff.

Napier has also added six on-field coaches, with an eye on several current NFL assistants to round out the staff. Additionally, former Gator Mike Peterson is expected to join the staff as outside linebackers coach in the coming days.

Patrick Toney (co-defensive coordinator/safeties) and Corey Raymond (cornerbacks) are the only two defensive coaches who have been hired. Jabbar Juluke (running backs), Darnell Stapleton (offensive line), Keary Colbert (receivers), and William Peagler (tight ends) round out the rest of the staff.

The three analysts who will assist the on-field coaches are Ryan O’Hara (quarterbacks – Napier), Jamar Chaney (linebackers), and Matt Bergeron (receivers – Colbert).

Additionally, Napier has tapped Mark Hocke to run the strength and conditioning program. Hocke will be joined by Joe Danos, Karmichael Dunbar, and Edward Thompson.
