GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Florida Gators starting forward Alex Condon earned Southeastern Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week honors, the SEC office announced on Monday.

Condon posted a double-double in Florida’s win at top-ranked Auburn on Saturday with 17 points and 10 rebounds along with four assists. That followed a 19-point, nine-rebound performance in the home win vs. Vanderbilt, adding four assists and two blocked shots without a turnover.

The Perth, Australia, native shot 14-for-16 from 2-point range (.875) over the two contests and logged a career-high 33 minutes against Auburn. With the Gators leading by 10 at the half in Auburn, Condon scored seven points in the first five minutes out of the break to extend Florida’s lead.

“He’s fearless,” UF coach Todd Golden said of Condon on Monday. “I think that’s one of the best compliments I can give for a player. A lot of times, whether it’s going up against Johni Broome, going on the road in a top environment, whatever it is, some guys might struggle with some confidence here and there. I think what I’m most proud of about our group is we go to Auburn, and we were fearless.”

Condon becomes the eighth Gator in program history and just the third frontcourt player (Joakim Noah, Colin Castleton) to earn multiple SEC Player of the Week honors in a season, having also garnered the recognition following his double-double in Florida’s win over No. 1 Tennessee on Jan. 7.

No. 3 Florida returns to action on Tuesday at No. 22 Mississippi State for a 7 p.m. EST tip on ESPN2.
