GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The Florida Gators claimed a second sell out for the 2022 football season. Florida’s Oct. 15 matchup against LSU has been sold out, the Gators Ticket Office announced Wednesday. This is the second sold-out game for the Gators in the 2022 season. The season opener this Saturday against Utah has also been announced as a sold out contest.

We all understand Gainesville transforms on game day, and I’m certainly excited about experiencing that for the first time being on this side,” Napier said on Monday. “So be there early, know that you’re a part of the team and that you can contribute and help our team in terms of the game.”

The Gators and the Tigers will meet for the 69th time in the storied rivalry series that dates back to 1937. Florida leads the series 33-32-3.

The Gators have had four sellouts since 2018 LSU (2018), Auburn (2019), Alabama, and FSU (2021). They now have two in Billy Napier’s first six home games. If the Gators pull off an upset over No. 7 Utah, you can bet your last dollar the Kentucky game will be a sell out in week two.

“I feel like right now, where I’m at especially with this staff, I’m very confident,” Tre’Vez Johnson said. “(We’re) ready to play, ready to show what we’ve been working on.”

“I just want to hear the crowd roar whenever we score. Seeing all the blue shirts, hearing everybody scream, and seeing my teammates’ faces,” Anthony Richardson said. “We’ve got a lot of freshmen that haven’t been in a stadium as big as The Swamp, so I want to see smiles on everybody’s faces.”

There is more excitement around the Florida Gators program with Billy Napier than we’ve seen in recent years. That is readily apparent in the season ticket sales.

Florida has just around 75 season ticket packages available for the 2022 season. That doesn’t include the completely sold-out student section (17,500). That’s the most since 2017, Jim McElwain’s final season and a season that came after back-to-back SEC Championship Game appearances.

Even more impressive for Florida is that 6,500 of those season ticket buyers were new, meaning they had not previously purchased season tickets. That number is three times the amount of new account holders in 2017 (approximately 2,000).
