Florida Gators announce non-conference schedule for 2024-25 season
GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The Florida Gators men’s basketball team announced its 2024-25 nonconference slate on Tuesday. It marks Year 3 under coach Todd Golden after the program had its best campaign since 2017 last season.
UF will have seven non-conference home games plus four additional games in the Sunshine State, including the season opener in Jacksonville vs. USF on Nov. 4. The Gators host Jacksonville University for their home opener Nov. 7.
The schedule includes six matchups vs. in-state opponents and multiple opportunities for fans around the state and region to watch UF before SEC play. In addition to the 11 games in Florida, the Gators will play in Atlanta and Charlotte.
“Obviously, we were pretty electric offensively last year. We were a little better than we thought we’d be on that end and it’s going to be hard to replicate that. I do believe we can take a jump defensively, though, and there’s a lot of room for improvement for us that way,” Golden said of his 2024-25 team. “So, I’m OK if we go back a little bit offensively if we can make a massive jump defensively, right? So that’s kind of what we’re trying to tug and push on every day in the office just trying to kind of thread that needle.”
Florida’s seven home games include a visit from Virginia in the SEC-ACC Challenge on Dec. 4, while the lone true road contest will be at Florida State on Nov. 15. The Gators also have neutral-site matchups with Arizona State in Atlanta (Dec. 14) and North Carolina in Charlotte (Dec. 17).
