GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Florida’s night game against the Charlotte 49ers on Saturday has been sold out, the Gators Ticket Office announced Thursday. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. on ESPN+/SECN+.

The sellout is the second straight this season and sixth overall under UF coach Billy Napier as there were four games sold out in his first season last year after having four sellouts since 2018 prior.

Napier thanked the fans in his postgame presser for their impact in Florida’s 29-16 win over Tennessee and opened his Monday news conference with another shout-out to Gator Nation.

“So, got to start off by this is a really unique experience in the Swamp Saturday night relative to our fans. They put on a show for the entire country to see. They impacted our team, brought a lot of energy to our players, created momentum in the game, and certainly made it very difficult for Tennessee. Caused procedure penalties. Ultimately, they were a part of the plan and did their part. Can’t compliment them enough.

“When you get texts from people that have been around here for a long time, they tell you that’s the best it’s been in 15 years, I think you’re probably doing something right. So, our fan base was incredible,” Napier said. “That’s what the University of Florida football can be. We need to do that more consistently. Certainly, as a staff and team we can do our part.”

Earlier this year, the Gators Ticket Office announced sellouts of student season tickets for the second straight season under Napier and for the third consecutive year.

The No. 25 Gators (2-1) and 49ers (2-1) will meet for the first time ever on Saturday. The matchup will serve as this year’s Tom Petty Day at The Swamp, presented by UF Health.

Florida starting quarterback Graham Mertz applauded fans in his postgame presser — he actually stopped and clapped for them — for how loud they were in The Swamp.

The announced attendance last Saturday was 90,751, the 12th largest crowd in school history.

“Man, oh my gosh. It got loud,” Mertz said. “I was on the side, I couldn’t hear my coach in front of me. I was trying to figure it out. Man, it got rocking. We knew we got The Swamp, man. And when that place is fired up, that’s truly special.

“So, we owe it to them to thank them for everything we got too. Coach hit on it in his press conference — I saw it on an Instagram. He was like, you have the opportunity to affect the game, and they truly affected the game. So, props to them, man. That was freaking awesome.”
