GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Florida Gators men’s basketball assistant coach Taurean Green has been accused of sexual assault in a complaint filed by a UF athletics department employee, according to a report from ESPN’s Paula Lavigne.

The woman, who remained anonymous in the complaint, is accusing Green of arranging a meeting with her in the athletic facilities, where he allegedly kissed her and tried to put his hand down her pants, according to the report.

The incident occurred in March 2024 and the woman told ESPN she first reported her allegations in mid-December to Florida deputy athletics director Amy Meyers Hass. Green did not respond to ESPN’s requests for comment and neither did Hass, citing confidentiality.

In a statement provided to ESPN, Florida spokesperson Steve Orlando said, “The law prohibits us from commenting on the existence or status of investigations. The University of Florida takes these matters seriously and conducts a thorough and deliberate process that ensures due process for everyone.”

The news comes as the university continues to investigate head coach Todd Golden for alleged Title IX violations that surfaced last November.

Green, the starting point guard on Florida’s 2006 and 2007 national championship teams, led the 2007 Gators with 13.3 points per game and earned AP All-American honors. He was named to the 2006 All-Final Four Team and earned Regional All-Tournament team recognition in 2006 and 2007. His 52 assists and 476 minutes played in the NCAA Tournament are both the most by a Gator, and his 164 points are fourth in UF history.

During Green’s three seasons at Florida, he helped the Gators to the 2007 SEC Championship and the 2005, 2006 and 2007 SEC Tournament titles. Green earned All-SEC honors in 2006 and 2007 and was the 2006 SEC Tournament MVP and earned 2007 All-SEC Tournament Team honors. He was the SEC’s free throw percentage leader in 2006-07, hitting at an .849 clip from the line.

Green was a 2007 NBA Draft pick by the Portland Trail Blazers and played with Portland and the Denver Nuggets before embarking on a decorated overseas career that included league championships in France and Poland and an All-Star honor in Greece.

After retiring in 2021, Green reunited with Billy Donovan in a player development role with the Chicago Bulls franchise. He was hired by the Gators as director of player development before being promoted to assistant coach ahead of the 2023-24 season.
