Florida Gators baseball ranked No. 4 by Perfect Game

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Baseball America released its annual preseason top-25 rankings on Monday morning, with Florida opening the year at No. 4 on the list.
 
Baseball America becomes the fourth publication to rank the Gators inside the top five this preseason, following D1Baseball (No. 2), College Baseball Central (No. 2) and Perfect Game (No. 4). Florida was one of eight SEC programs to make the cut, which was the most of any conference: No. 2 LSU, No. 3 Arkansas, No. 4 Florida, No. 7 Vanderbilt, No. 8 Tennessee, No. 11 Texas A&M, No. 12 South Carolina and No. 23 Auburn.

Florida returns 14 players from its 2023 NCAA Runner-Up squad including positional starters Jac Caglianone, Cade Kurland, Luke Heyman, Tyler Shelnut, Ty Evans and Michael Robertson. They also return regular contributor Dale Thomas, who is slated to start at third base this season. On the mound, the Gators return All-American Brandon Neely and Freshman All-American Cade Fisher. Fisher is on pace to earn the Friday night role for the Gators this season. Caglianone slots back in on Sundays and into a talented pitching staff that welcomes the returns of Ryan Slater, Blake Purnell and Fisher Jameson. A deep class of 22 newcomers bolsters the 2024 roster, anchored by seven transfers as the Gators look to make a repeat trip to the College World Series.
