Gators basketball signs 4-star wing Alex Lloyd
After committing to the Florida Gators during the spring, 2025 4-star wing Alex Lloyd has now finalized his recruitment by signing with the SEC program on Thursday.
Lloyd, a product of Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Westminster Christian, checks in as the No. 14 small forward and No. 58 prospect in his class. That is according to the On3 Industry Ranking.
“We are thrilled to welcome Alex Lloyd and his family into our Gator basketball program,” Golden said. “Alex is one of the best high school guards in the country, and we are really excited to add him to our group. He comes from a great family, and he has always been passionate about joining our program. There is no doubt he will have great success within our program.”
Back in April, it was Lloyd who kicked off the Gators’ recruiting class with a big verbal commitment. Additional finalists at the time included Florida State, Miami, St. John’s and Dayton.
The South Florida native is listed as a small forward but can also play both guard spots at nearly 6-foot-3, 165 pounds. His versatility gives Florida plenty of options for the future.

Last December, Lloyd was a top performer at the City of Palms Classic, grasping the attention of On3 and numerous others.
“Alex Lloyd had an eye opening performance for Westminster Academy (FL),” Tipton said at the time. “The 6-foot-4 guard has elite scoring instincts. He has a confident stroke and can score it bunches. The 6-3 junior can really score the basketball and competes, on both sides of the ball. Makes the right play. Can shoot it and drive it and get to the rim.”
Todd Golden and company have opened their 2024-25 campaign with a 3-0 record and visit Florida State on Friday at 6 p.m. on ACC Network.
