Florida Gators center Jake Slaughter named AP First-Team All-American
The honors keep rolling in for Florida Gators center Jake Slaughter. But the one that came Monday arguably is the biggest to date when he was named an Associated Press first-team All-American.
Slaughter, a redshirt junior from Ocala (Fla.) Trinity Catholic, started all 12 of Florida’s games during the regular season and leads the offensive line in total snaps played with 728. According to Pro Football Focus, Slaughter ranks third nationally among centers with an offensive grade of 81.2. He has been the Gators’ most consistent offensive lineman this season and leads that group with top grades in both pass and run blocking.
Slaughter is Florida’s second first-team AP All-American in Billy Napier’s three seasons as coach. He joins O’Cyrus Torrence, a 2022 All-American who now is a member of the Buffalo Bills. Consensus All-Americans at Florida earn a brick outside the southwest corner of The Swamp. Torrence is the most recent Gator to receive one.
