Florida Gators chasing a World Series ring in the MLB Playoffs

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Five former Florida Gators find themselves on playoff rosters after 162 regular-season games as the 2024 Major League Baseball Postseason gets underway on Tuesday, Oct. 1.
 
The former Gators who are pursuing a World Series Championship with their respective clubs this October are Pete Alonso (New York Mets), Harrison Bader (Mets), Alex Faedo (Detroit Tigers), Brady Singer (Kansas City Royals) and Danny Young (Mets). Additionally, Christian Scott made his MLB debut this seaosn and was on the Mets roster before a UCL injury ended his season. He is currently on the 60-day DL.

Each of the aforementioned teams made the playoffs as either a National League or American League Wild Card club, meaning the postseason immediately gets underway on Tuesday for all five Gators.
 
Competing in the American League Wild Card round, Faedo and the Tigers open the postseason at the Houston Astros on Tuesday at 2:32 p.m. ET on ABC. Singer’s Royals begin their own best-of-three series at the Baltimore Orioles with first pitch set for 4:08 p.m. on ESPN2. Lastly, Florida’s Mets trio kicks off a series at the Milwaukee Brewers on ESPN at 5:32 p.m.
 
The AL and NL Wild Card rounds run from Oct. 1 through Oct. 3 (if necessary). All Wild Card matchups air on ABC, ESPN or ESPN2.
 
The AL and NL Division Series stretch from Saturday, Oct. 5 to Saturday, Oct. 12 with coverage on FOX, FS1 and TBS. The NL Championship Series (Oct. 13-21) and AL Championship Series (Oct. 14- 22) air on FOX/FS1 and TBS, respectively.
 
The 2024 World Series gets underway on Friday, Oct. 25 while a potential game seven (if necessary) would come on Saturday, Nov. 2. The entirety of the World Series airs on FOX.
