GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The Florida Gators climbed into the top three of the latest Associated Press Poll on Monday following their win at No. 1 Auburn on Saturday.

After falling out of the top five last week, UF moved up three spots to No. 3 in the new AP Top 25 after beating the Tigers 90-81 on the road.

The Gators jumped Tennessee and Duke, which lost 77-71 at Clemson. Auburn stills holds the top ranking and will play at No. 2 Alabama on Saturday.

Florida coach Todd Golden said Monday that he didn’t think his team should be ranked No. 1 yet.

“No, not necessarily,” he said. “Rankings are tricky because is it who is playing the best at this exact moment? Is it the best resume? There’s a lot of different things that go into it. I have no doubt that we’re firmly a top-four team in America right now. I think we are playing that way.

“I think we proved on Saturday what our ceiling is. I think it’s pretty clear that the win that we got on Saturday is the best win that anybody has in college basketball up to this point this year. And our efficiency metrics and all the data on us speaks pretty highly.”

The Florida Gators (20-3, 7-3 SEC) are back on the road on Tuesday at No. 22 Mississippi State. Tip is at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN 2.

The Bulldogs (17-6, 5-5 SEC) went 12-1 in nonconference play, including a win at Memphis, and beat Georgia on Saturday.
