Florida drops a spot in the new AP poll

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The Florida Gators dropped a spot in the latest Associated Press Poll on Monday despite extending their winning streak to six games last week.
UF fell from No. 2 to No. 3 in the new AP Top 25, getting jumped by Duke. The Blue Devils beat Illinois 110-67 on Saturday, the most lopsided loss in Illinois history.
The beat Oklahoma 85-63 last Tuesday and defeated LSU 79-65 on Saturday, rallying from a halftime deficit. Starting forward Alex Condon missed both games.
The Gators are still projected as a 1-seed in the NCAA Tournament.
“Our perfect-world goal, I think if we finish top five, even as a top-2 seed, we’ll probably be able to go Raleigh or Lexington, as opposed to Cleveland, which would be beneficial,” Golden said. “We’re going to go anywhere we have to go and play and compete. But I think from a pride standpoint, getting a 1-seed would be huge.
“Bama, us, Auburn, Duke, Tennessee, those six rights there have kind of separated from a resume standpoint from the rest of the field. It’s a good place to be. It’s not going to make or break our season if we get the third, fourth or fifth spot. But if we could get a 1, it would be a great honor for our program.”
The Florida Gators (24-3, 11-3 SEC) have another road game on Tuesday against Georgia. Tip is at 7 p.m. ET on SEC Network.
The Bulldogs (16-11, 4-10 SEC) lost at Florida, 89-59, on Jan. 25 and have dropped four straight games in conference play.
