Florida Gators finalize another non-conference matchup
GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The Florida Gators have finalized two more non-conference games for the 2024-25 season. Both matchups — the opener vs. USF and against Arizona State in Atlanta — had been previously reported but are now official.
The Gators will open the season in the Jacksonville Sports Foundation Invitational against South Florida, facing the Bulls at Vystar Veterans Memorial Arena on Nov. 4. It marks their first opener in Jacksonville since 2016, when they topped Florida Gulf Coast in the same venue.
Florida also will compete in the Holiday Hoopsgiving event vs. Arizona State in Atlanta on Dec. 14. The matchup with the Sun Devils will take place at State Farm Arena as part of a tripleheader that also features Auburn vs. Ohio State and Georgia vs. Grand Canyon.
Time, television and ticket information for both games will be announced at a later date.
The Gators hold a 19-5 all-time record vs. South Florida, but the teams have only met once over the past 20 years. Florida won the most recent matchup, 66-55, in Sunrise in December 2021, led by a double-double from Colin Castleton (12 points, 11 rebounds).
UF has faced the Sun Devils twice in school history, beating them both times. The two teams last met in the 2008 NIT quarterfinals, with the Gators defeating top-seeded Arizona State in Tempe with a convincing 70-57 win behind Walter Hodge’s 18 points.
Florida has now officially announced five non-conference games from its 2024-25 schedule, and three more matchups have been reported.
