Florida flips 4-star EDGE Jayden Woods from Penn State
Surprise, Florida Gators fans!
Friday afternoon, Billy Napier and his staff made another big splash on the recruiting trail, as 4-star EDGE Jayden Woods flipped his commitment to the Gators. He had been committed to Penn State.
Woods, who hails from Shawnee (Kans.) Mill Valley, took a surprise official visit during the weekend of the Ole Miss game and clearly saw enough over those two days to make the big switch.
However, the Florida Gators have actually been in pursuit for roughly a year after offering a scholarship last November. They also made his Woods’ top five back in April, and although a visit never took place until just recently, Napier’s staff kept their foot on the accelerator and the persistence paid off.
According to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, Woods is the No. 116 prospect and No. 14-ranked EDGE for the 2025 cycle.
As for his positional fit in Gainesville, Woods will play the JACK position under outside linebackers coach Mike Peterson.
