The Florida Gators have 22 commitments in their 2024 recruiting class with 10 projected to play on offense. Despite having limited spots left to fill, there’s still some work to be done for Billy Napier & Co. before the early signing period begins in December.

What is left for Florida on offense in the class? Who are the top recruits at each position and what is the Gators’ standing with each?

The Hot Board has some of the answers.

Below are the recruits we think (“think” being the key word) are the top targets at each position and my guesses at the Gators’ chances of signing them as of today. Keep in mind, the percentages below are Florida’s chances against the field.

Remember, this all my opinion. The folks at Gators HQ may have a different take.

And, we are not factoring any potential portal pickups with the position numbers.

Quarterback (1)

Name (On3 Industry star rating)HometownOVPreviousCurrent
DJ Lagway (5)Willis, Texas6/02GatorsGators

Florida has its top target at the position on board. Lagway is the No. 3 QB in the country, per the On3 Industry Rankings, and the No. 17 overall recruit. He committed to Florida over Clemson and Southern California. Lagway has attended multiple Florida home games this season and has continually said he is locked in with the Gators. He might even be their best recruiter.

Jerrick Gibson (4)Gainesville, Fla.Texas/15%Texas/20%
Chauncey Bowens (4) Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.Georgia/10%Georgia/5%

Florida has one running back committed and would like to add a second.

Baugh certainly is someone to track. The Gators officially offered him the first week of August and he visited them earlier this year. Now, he plans to be at The Swamp on Nov. 4. If that goes well, an official visit could happen. Meanwhile, Florida running backs coach Jabbar Juluke stopped by Baugh’s school last week.

Lacy, whom the Gators offered three weeks ago, de-committed from Nebraska on Thursday. Ole Miss and Alabama appear to be two other programs to watch. Most of the buzz in his orbit right now is about Florida and Ole Miss. Lacy told Gators Online earlier this week that an official visit to Florida is possible. And that was before he re-opened his recruitment.

Gibson, a Gainesville native and former Gators commit, has attended two Florida home game this season. And now, he might — MIGHT — be at the Florida-Georgia game Saturday in Jacksonville. The Gators keep trying to chip away.

Meanwhile, Florida also continues to recruit another former commit — Bowens, per his coach.

Could the Gators add another WR to the class?

Joseph Stone (4)Fairburn, Ga.10%
TJ Moore (4)Tampa, Fla.Clemson/5%Clemson/5%

Florida has three commitments at receiver and each of them appears to be solid. Now, the Gators would love to add an elite player to this group.

Smith, an Ohio State commit, visited Florida three times this summer and returned for a two-day visit last month. Both sides apparently are pleased with how it went. FSU and Miami also are in the mix. Look for Smith to return to Gainesville for the Florida-Florida State game in November. He continues to say he is solid to the Buckeyes but also that he’ll have a final decision close to signing day in December.

Coleman told On3 in September he is “locked in with Texas A&M 100%.” But, he added that Florida was one of the schools recruiting him the hardest — and said the Gators might get an official visit. To our knowledge, nothing has been scheduled yet.

Florida visited Moore’s school last, but indications are he’s solid to Clemson right now.

Miller recently de-committed from Texas A&M. Per On3’s Sam Spiegelman “Ole Miss, Georgia, Colorado, Southern California and Florida” are among the team pursuing him.

Stone de-committed from LSU last week. He told Gators Online the Gators have made contact with him.

It’s possible more names could emerge here in the near future.

Tight ends (1)

Amir Jackson (4)Portal, Ga.6/16GatorsGators

The Gators are content taking one tight end this class. And they’re thrilled to have Jackson, who they view as having a tremendous upside. Auburn and Miami continue to heavily recruit him and he visited the Tigers recently. He’s now expected to attend multiple Florida games between now and season’s end. The Gators like where they stand.

The Gators might not be done on the offensive line

Jordan Seaton (5)Washington, D.C.10/0735%35%
Favour Edwin (3) McDonough, Ga.15%25%
Kalolo Ta’aga (3) Palo Alto, Calif.15%20%

Florida has four offensive line commits and doesn’t necessarily have to add anyone else, but the Gators certainly would take another high-level player. The preference would be at tackle from the sound of things.

Seaton, a 5-star with On3 and the On3 Industry, officially visited the Gators earlier this month and by all accounts that went well. However, his recruitment is a long way from over. Alabama, Tennessee and Oregon are some of the other major players. It’s difficult to get a true read on Florida’s chances at this time. This one likely will go all the way to signing day.

Edwin attended the Florida-Tennessee game in September and said afterward the Gators told him they want him. Right now, many think he’s trending to Auburn. But Florida offensive line coach Rob Sale stopped by his school last week and now Edwin plans to officially visit.

Ta’aga, whom Florida offered earlier this fall, is in his first year of football but offers are starting to come in from Power-5 schools. He told Gators Online he hopes to visit the Gators in November. Florida will get an official, he said.

A new name or two potentially still may emerge. It’s also possible the Gators might circle back to players committed to other schools.
