The Florida Gators solidified their spot in the top five of the On3 recruiting team rankings with the Thursday night commitment of 4-star safety Xavier Filsaime.

Florida was at No. 4 nationally before the commitment and still holds that spot.

However, the Gators have inched closer to No. 3 Ohio State in the rankings. The Buckeyes have a team score of 95.501 with 10 commitments; Florida is at 94.576 with only seven verbals.

The Gators are well ahead of No. 5 Michigan.

Florida now is No. 3 among SEC programs, trailing only Georgia (No. 1 nationally) and Alabama (No. 2). The Gators class has an average player rating of 93.03. That’s actually ahead of Georgia (92.08) at this time.

Filsaime, an All-American at McKinney (Texas) High, is the No. 2 safety and No. 29 overall recruit nationally according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He’s No. 7 among all players in the state of Texas.
