A front runner has emerged in the recruitment of Michai Boireau, a 6-foot-5, 350-pound defensive lineman from Fairburn (Ga.) Creekside.

This weekend, the Gators welcomed the 2024 prospect back to Gainesville for an official visit and knocked it out of the park, resulting in a new leader in his recruitment.

Michigan, Georgia and Ole Miss are schools on the three-star prospect’s short list as well.

Florida is at the top right now,” Boireau told Gators Online and others. “I have been to Georgia; I haven’t been to Michigan but talked on the phone with them; Ole Miss, I’ve talked on the phone with them; I just feel like Florida is the realest I’ve talked to. It’s a pretty big lead.”

Boireau has journeyed down to the Swamp in the past; however, this weekend provided him with a much different experience. It was a much more in-depth presentation from the Gators as well.

“I came here and what I thought I was going to see ended up being way better,” Boireau said. “We had a great experience and everyone felt real and genuine. I just had a great time.”

The hospitality was on full display for Michai Boireau

Over a handful of staff members made their presence felt throughout the weekend. That is the typical expectation on any official visit, but most of Boireau’s time was spent with defensive line coaches Sean Spencer and Kali James Jr. Those two pushed all the right buttons from start to finish.

“It was good,” Boireau said. “Over the phone and in person are two different things, so coming here and getting to spend time in person with coach Spencer, coach James and coach Napier, it’s always great.”

The aforementioned Spencer carries the nickname “Chaos,” and according to Boireau, he certainly lived up to that label throughout the weekend.

“(His energy) it’s high,” said Boireau. “You know coach Spencer; coach Spencer is coach Spencer. He is always high energy and is always great. He feels like a father figure to me.”

Three additional visits are locked in for June

If all goes as planned, the 2024 prospect will be logging several additional trips this month.

Ole Miss and Michigan are on the calendar for visits, with the Rebels set to play host next weekend. Georgia will be receiving a visit as well.

“After those visits, I will just shut it down and commit in July,” said Boireau.
