Florida Gators hold steady at No. 3 in On3 recruiting team rankings after latest commitment
Following Monday’s commitment from 4-star receiver Jerrae Hawkins of Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy, the Florida Gators sit at No. 3 in the On3 recruiting team rankings.
They didn’t move up or down with this verbal.
The Gators are in good company at the top. Georgia, the two-time defending national champion, is No. 1 followed by Ohio State.
Florida now has 17 verbals — and 12 of them are 4-stars, which ties the Gators with Georgia, Ohio State, Michigan and Notre Dame for the most commits with that rating.
You can find the complete team rankings HERE.
Hawkins is the No. 38 receiver and No. 233 overall recruit nationally according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
He has a 90.92 rating.
Florida’s commitment list is so stout, eight Gator commits have higher rankings/ratings than Hawkins.

“Florida is where my heart is. There was no reason for me to wait any longer,” Hawkins told On3’s Chad Simmons. “I really knew on my official visit that Florida could be the school. The vibe was right for me. The players were cool. I like the coaches. It just felt like the move I should make. The reasons I picked Florida outside of how they recruited me and the atmosphere was the offense, how they would use me in it and the fans. I love the fans at Florida. They are crazy and it will be great to play in front of them.”

Hawkins, though not big (he’s 5-foot-9 and 160 pounds), can run like the wind (10.3/10.4 seconds in the 100 meters) — and was fairly polished for a high school receiver. In the Florida staff’s view, he wasn’t a project. He had incredible speed and could play.

Ten players now have committed to the Gators in June. (Complete commitment list HERE) Midway through the month, Florida sat well outside the top 10 of the recruiting team rankings. Now, the Gators are solidly in the top five and remain very much in contention with several more high-quality targets.
