Florida Gators Junior linebacker Khris Bogle is entering the transfer portal, sources have confirmed to Gators Online. Matt Zenitz of On3 was first to report.

“All my life decisions have made me the man that I am today. Having to make yet another big decision in my life did. not come easy,” Bogle wrote on Twitter. “I feel like I am making the best decisions for my future and family. I want to thank the University of Florida and the entire football staff for everything they have done for me. To all the great people that I have met along the way, I will forever cherish these relationships. To my teammates, keep challenging yourself to be the best. With that being said, I have decided to enter my name into the transfer portal.”

Bogle, a junior from Ft. Lauderdale, finished the 2021 season with 22 tackles, three tackles for a loss, 1.5 sacks, and two quarterback hurries. Bogle split time with redshirt junior Brenton Cox Jr. The Georgia transfer, who is expected to return to Gainesville in 2022 finished second on the team with 7.5 sacks, including a monster four-sack performance against FSU.

Cox had surgery prior to the season after suffering a Jones fracture in his foot and played through injuries most of the season. He finished the season strong and has clear goals for his senior season at Florida.

Bogle appeared in ten games this season, starting at linebacker in three of those. Bogle had sacks against FAU and Missouri. Over his career, Bogle played in 34 games, tallying 67 tackles, 11 tackles for a loss, and 7.5 sacks. He would have been a key contributor to Billy Napier’s first team in Gainesville. A consensus four-star recruit in the On3 database, Bogle was 52nd ranked player nationally, fourth-ranked EDGE rusher, and ninth best player from Florida in the 2019 class.

Napier has not met with the new team in person yet. The Louisiana coach will be on the field coaching the Sun Belt Championship game Saturday. Napier will meet with the Florida Gators on Sunday before he is formally introduced to the media and fans later in the day. There is always the opportunity for players to remove their name from the transfer portal, but change at the top can always lead to a flux of transfers in and out.

Bogle is the third Gator to hit the transfer portal since the season ended. Offensive lineman Gerald Mincey and former tight end turned defensive lineman Dante Zanders both entered their names earlier in the week.

The Gators have Chris McClellan, Jamari Lyons, and Francois Nolton committed to the 2022 class with Lyons playing that specific EDGE rusher role. The Gators are expecting Cox to return along with Lloyd Sumerall, and Antwuan Powell, but depth at the position will be slim unless Napier and his new staff can add in the offseason.

Both Summerall and Powell have played sparingly, to say the least, during their time at Florida. Powell tweeted cryptically but is expected to return to Florida, where if Bogle doesn’t return, opportunity awaits. Summerall has saw action in every game in 2021, mainly on special teams. He has recorded eight tackles in three seasons, including two for a loss.
