Florida Gators Win Total: How Many Wins Does Billy Napier NEED In 2024 For Fanbase To Be Happy?

The Florida Gators expanded their 2025 recruiting class on Saturday, as Jacksonville (Fla.) Riverside tight end Tae’shaun Gelsey announced his commitment.

Gelsey, 6-foot-4, 210 pounds, hauled in 48 passes for 859 yards and nine touchdowns during the 2023 season. It should be noted that was while playing wide receiver. That mixture of production and athleticism has tight ends coach Russ Callaway stoked about his potential at tight end.

Labeled a 3-star prospect, Gelsey is commitment No. 8 for the University of Florida. He is also the second tight end in the class, joining Madison (Miss.) Central standout Micah Jones.

“It’s the relationship I have with each coach. Everyone is just brought together and everybody is just family. They made me feel welcome and it’s just a great environment they have,” Gelsey told Gators Online regarding his commitment.

“I was told they were glad to have me and can’t wait to see what I can do at the next level and during my senior year. They just can’t wait to get me on campus.”

Connecting with Florida is seamless

Pushing all the right buttons on behalf of the Gators is the aforementioned Russ Callaway. The relationship is fairly new considering UF just recently offered but strengthening week in and week out.

Wide receiver staffer Chad Lucas deserves credit too, as he maintained communication in 2023 before an offer was ever on the table. That led to Callaway taking the reigns in recent weeks.

“He’s a cool coach, real genuine,” Gelsey said of Callaway. “He has his playful side and serious side, but he’s a good coach overall. He is always real with you and a fun guy to be around.”

Plenty of colleges see what Florida sees in Tae’shaun Gelsey

According to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, Gelsey is the No. 41 tight end and No. 710 prospect overall. He is also the No. 88-ranked rising senior in the state of Florida.

Additional offers on the table include Auburn, Kentucky, Wake Forest, UCF, Maryland, West Virginia, Indiana, Boston College, Tulane and Cincinnati. Those are just some of the D1 opportunities for him.

“I’m just taking it all in because it’s my last year,” said Gelsey. “This journey, it’s been a wild one. I am making sure I enjoy it.”
