Florida Gators land four on Pro Football Focus preseason All-SEC teams
GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The Florida Gators are just 45 days away from kicking off the 2023 football season. On Monday, Pro Football Focus released their Preseason All-SEC teams and four Gators made the cut.
Cornerback Jason Marshall and EDGE Princely Umanmielen led the way as first-team defensive players. Running back Trevor Etienne and left tackle Austin Barber rounded out the list of Gators on the third team.
Marshall is generating buzz this offseason. The junior cornerback was projected as a first-round selection by ESPN. He was also listed as the ninth-best returning cornerback in the country by Pro Football Focus. Marshall started 13 games for the Gators in 2022. He finished the season with 29 tackles, 8 pass breakups, one tackle for a loss, and one interception.
Umanmielen played in all 13 games while making 11 starts at defensive end. He totaled 39 tackles (16 solo), 9.5 TFL, 4.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, and five quarterback hurries. Umanmielen has made the move to EDGE, where he’ll look to once again lead the Gators in sacks in 2023.
