The resume of Florida Gators great Brad Culpepper isn’t too shabby.

The highlights include:

-A 1991 consensus first-team All-American.

-Recipient of the NFF Campbell Trophy as the country’s top scholar-athlete.

-Two-time All-SEC pick.

-Member of Florida’s 1991 SEC championship team.

-Ranks sixth all-time at Florida with 47.5 tackles for loss.

-Student body vice-president.

Someday soon, Culpepper might have an impressive addition to this already stellar list.

He was named to the 2024 ballot for induction into the College Football Hall of Fame, the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame announced Monday.

Culpepper, a defensive tackle, played for the Gators from 1988-91.

Florida has produced 14 Hall of Fame members. That includes 10 players and four coaches.

Gators icon Steve Spurrier remarkably was inducted both as a player and a coach.

Former Florida quarterback Tim Tebow was the last Florida player to be inducted into the Hall. He was part of the 2023 class.

Per a Florida Gators release, “Since 2000, nine Gators have joined the prestigious group. The announcement of the 2024 College Football Hall of Fame Class will be made in early 2024, with specific details to be announced in the future. The 2024 College Football Hall of Fame Class will be officially inducted during the 66th NFF Annual Awards Dinner Presented by Las Vegas on Dec. 10, 2024, and permanently immortalized at the Chick-fil-A College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta. They will also be honored at their respective schools with an NFF Hall of Fame On-Campus Salute, presented by Fidelity Investments, during the 2024 season.”

Back to Culpepper, a menacing defender who was simply dominating in the trenches during a period when Florida had some of the best defenses in the country.

Brad Culpepper also had a great NFL career

After college, he was a 10th-round pick, but ended up having a heck of an NFL career with the Vikings, Bucs and Bears. All told, he played in 131 NFL games with 83 starts.

He recorded 34 sacks in the NFL.

“I am the player I am because of Brad Culpepper,” NFL Hall of Fame defensive tackle Warren Sapp once said of Culpepper in a Sports Illustrated interview. “Other guys might get more publicity. [Detroit Lions defensive tackle] Luther Ellis made the Pro Bowl because he’s good at pumping up the crowd. But I wouldn’t trade Brad for any nosetackle in the NFL. This team is one step from the greatest show on earth, and the man beside me is the one who’s going to lead us where we want to go.”

Today, Culpepper is a trial lawyer for the Culpepper Kurland law firm in Tampa, Fla.
