Florida Gators linebacker Mannie Nunnery to withdraw from transfer portal
Gators Online has confirmed that Florida Gators linebacker Mannie Nunnery told the program’s coaching staff he’s coming back and is withdrawing his name from the NCAA transfer portal.
He had entered the portal Jan. 11.
Nunnery has 109 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, and 4.0 sacks in his college career. He started that career at Houston.
In 2023 — his lone season with the Gators — Nunnery recorded 28 tackles, 11 solo stops, 0.5 sacks and 1 pass breakup. He had a season-high 10 tackles (2 solo) in an overtime loss at The Swamp to Arkansas.
Per FloridaGators.com, these are some of Nunnery’s 2023 season highlights:
“Appeared in all 12 games with three starts… finished the season with 28 tackles, 1.5 TFL’s, half a sack, one QB hurry and a pass break-up… Recorded one solo tackle and had one pass break-up against No. 9 Missouri (Nov. 18)… Made his first Gator start at No. 18 LSU (Nov. 11) where he recorded four total tackles and one tackle for loss… Had a season-high 10 tackles and 0.5 TFL off one sack in game against Arkansas (Nov. 4)… Recorded four tackles in conference win against Vanderbilt (Oct. 7)… Recorded two tackles against No. 14 Utah (8/31).”
Mannie Nunnery has one season of eligibility left
Nunnery previously spent four years at Houston. He was redshirted in 2019; the 2020 season did not count against his eligibility because of Covid-19.
Thus, he has one season left to play.
Nunerry was to be a graduate transfer had he left the program. He’s expected to graduate from UF this spring.

The NCAA Transfer Portal is a private database with names of student-athletes who wish to transfer. It is not accessible to the public.
The process of entering the portal is done through a school’s compliance office. Once a player provides written notification of an intent to transfer, the office enters the player’s name in the database and everything is off and running. The compliance office has 48 hours to comply with the player’s request and that request cannot be refused.
Once a player’s name shows up in the portal, other schools can contact the player. Players can change their minds at any point and withdraw from the portal. However, once a player enters the portal, the current scholarship no longer has to be honored. In other words, if a player enters the portal but decides to stay, the school is not obligated to provide a scholarship anymore.
Wrote Alex Weber of On3: “Born Robert Nunnery, “Mannie” was a less-heralded recruit out of Shadow Creek high school in Pearland, Texas, where he was a three-star recruit in the On3 Industry Rankings. He was also rated the No. 1,328 overall player and No. 174 prospect out of the Lone Star State in that cycle.”
