Florida Gators lose third member from national championship staff

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Another member of the Florida Gators national championship staff has been hired away by another program for a promotion. The latest to leave is Jordan Talley, the third departure for UF since the 2024-25 season ended.
Talley was hired by Duquesne University as an assistant coach, Dukes coach Dru Joyce III announced. A native of Lake City, Fla., Talley joins Duquesne after spending the last three seasons as player development assistant at Florida.
Gators senior guard Will Richard credited Talley following his performance in NCAA Tournament Final to beat Houston for the national title.
“I was ready to play,” said Richard, who scored a team-high 18 points and was named to the Final Four All-Tournament team. “We knew what our goal was, to leave here with a championship. Just putting Florida back on the map and winning the national title.
“I got a lot of different things in my game that can help us win. It’s definitely good seeing the shots go in. You trust the work you put in, working in the summer with guys like Jordan Talley when nobody’s watching. I feel like that shows up in games like this and it did.”

Talley came to the Gators after two seasons as a graduate assistant at James Madison, which included a 2021 Colonial Athletic Association regular season championship. He began his coaching career in 2015-16 as an assistant at Columbia High School in his hometown and then made his first stop in Gainesville as an assistant coach at Santa Fe College in 2016-17.
Talley also served as an assistant coach in the junior college ranks at Polk State College (2017-18) and Tallahassee Community College (2019-20), helping T.C.C. win the Panhandle Conference championship and send 10 players to Division I, including the No. 1 player in junior college. Talley was the head coach of Lake Gibson High School for the 2018-19 season.
Talley is third member of Todd Golden’s staff to advance their career with a new job offer. Kevin Hovde was tabbed as Columbia’s head coach after three seasons at Florida and John Andrzejek was hired as the head coach at Campbell following two years with UF.
Golden replaced those two departures by promoting Jonathan Safir to an assistant coach (was previously director of basketball strategy and analytics for the Gators) and hiring Dave Klatsky, who spent the past three years as the head coach at New York University.
