Florida Gators move back up to No. 3 in recruiting team rankings with Wardell Mack commitment
With Monday’s massive commitment from 4-star defensive back Wardell Mack, the Florida Gators moved up one spot in the On3 recruiting team rankings.
They’re now back at No. 3 after jumping Alabama.
The Gators, with 22 commitments now for the 2024 class, are behind only No. 1 Georgia and No. 2 Ohio State at the moment. Florida has two 5-star verbals and 14 4-star commitments to go along with a stellar average commit rating of 90.84.
Mack, a standout at Marreo (La.) John Ehret, is the No. 7 corner and No. 72 overall prospect nationally in the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Mack, who is capable of playing corner or safety in college, becomes the Gators’ fourth defensive back commitment for 2024. He joins 5-star safety Xavier Filsaime of Texas, 3-star safety Josiah Davis of Georgia and 3-star corner Teddy Foster of Florida.
The Gators likely will take one more defensive back in the class — probably a corner.
Four-star recruit Zay Mincey of Daytona Beach (Fla.) Mainland probably is the top player on the Florida board at that position. Alabama and Miami appear to be the Gators’ top competition to land his signiture.

Filsaime is the highest-ranked member of the Florida commitment list. He checks in as the No. 28 overall prospect in the country. Next up is 5-star quarterback DJ Lagway, also of Texas. He’s ranked at No. 30.
Florida probably doesn’t have many spots remaining for high school recruits. Like most programs, the Gators plan to save space to see what becomes available in the transfer portal following the 2023 season.
Among 2024 high school targets, these are some other prospects to track:
-Four-star defensive lineman LJ McCray of Daytona Beach (Fla.) Mainland: He’s a four-star recruit high on the Florida board. Georgia and Florida State are the other two programs to watch at the moment. He is expected to have a commitment decision sometime this fall.
-Four-star offensive tackle Jordan Seaton of Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy: A top-50 national recruit, Seaton already has officially visited Alabama. He now plans to officially visit the Gators in September. South Carolina is another school in the mix and possibly Ohio State, too. His recruitment probably could go in a number of directions at this time but Florida appears to be squarely in the mix.
-Additionally, the Gators hope to add one more running back to the fold for the 2024 class.
