Florida placed one football player on the 2022 Preseason All-SEC team selected by USA TODAY Sports Network experts who cover the league.
Alabama led the conference with six players, Georgia had five selections and Tennessee and Texas A&M both placed three players apiece.
The Gators’ lone selection was outside linebacker Brenton Cox Jr., who made the All-SEC team as a defensive lineman. Cox recorded 41 total tackles in each of the past two years at UF, although he was not 100 percent in 2021.
Cox doubled his sack total from 2020 (4.0) last year, leading the Gators with 8.5 sacks and 14.5 tackles-for-loss. He ranked first in the league in TFL among outside linebackers and second in sacks behind Alabama’s Derick Hall.
