Ten days after receiving his dream offer from the University of Florida, four-star defensive lineman and Gainesville native Gavin Hill officially joined forces with his hometown Gators on Saturday.
Hill became the third commitment of the week and the second straight On300 recruit to pledge to Billy Napier’s program. Florida’s 2023 class is now ranked No. 23 nationally with eight members.
A video was posted to social media Sunday showing the moment Hill received his offer from the Gators. He’s on FaceTime with his father in Napier’s office and hands the phone to UF’s first-year coach, who delivers the special news.
“Hey Mr. Hill, I’m doing great, man. I just want you to know that you got a lot to be proud of. Your son is a heck of an athlete and a football player, but more importantly, he’s a great young man. He represents your family well,” Napier told Hill’s father in the video below.

“He worked extremely hard today. You would have been so proud of him. He showed his character, his toughness, his discipline. Today is a great day because Gavin earned a scholarship to play for the University of Florida. How about that? Great day! Go Gators!”
