Florida Gators or Texas A&M? Media members make their picks

How rare is it for an unranked Florida Gators team to beat an AP Top 5 opponent on the road? Well, consider this: The last (and only) time it happened, Steve Spurrier was a college freshman. The win came over No. 3 Alabama 10-6 in 1963 in Tuscaloosa, Ala. Spurrier, of course, did not play that day because freshmen were not eligible at that time.
Saturday night, the Gators (2-3 overall, 1-1 in the SEC) have a chance to do it again when they face No. 5 Texas A&M (5-0, 2-0) at Kyle Field in College Station, Texas.
“They’re a tough group, physical group, and Coach (Mike) Elko has done a really good job there,” UF coach Billy Napier said this week. “I mean, his pedigree and track record as a defensive coach, and then the brand of football they play on the offense and the weapons that they have … and they’re always a tough prep in the kicking game. … It’s gonna be a heckuva football game.”
Friday morning, the Gators Online staff revealed its picks for the game. Meanwhile, media members from across the country also have made their predictions. And by a rather large consensus, almost all of them have the Aggies winning.
