Gators QB Aidan Warner placed on scholarship
Redshirt freshman quarterback Aidan Warner has been placed on scholarship at the University of Florida, multiple sources tell Gators Online.
Warner, a former Yale transfer, joined the Gators as a preferred walk-on last spring. He redshirted his freshman season in the Ivy League before making the move back to his home state. He’s originally from Winter Park and played high school football at Lake Highland Prep.
After arriving at UF, Warner was sidelined during spring practice with a knee injury that required surgery. Once cleared, he worked his way into the quarterback rotation and eventually saw the field late in the 2024 season following injuries to Graham Mertz and DJ Lagway.
Warner appeared in four games for Florida, including the competitive loss against Georgia, and scored his first touchdown in the Gators’ win over Samford, rushing it in from nine yards out.
Last Saturday, Warner followed that up with a solid performance in the 2025 Orange and Blue Game, completing several passes and managing the offense well during his time on the field. That outing helped solidify his standing with the coaching staff.

With Mertz having moved on and Lagway expected to be the starter, Warner gives the Gators another experienced arm in the room.
