Florida Gators QB commit Austin Simmons visiting Ole Miss
Gators Online reported last week we knew of two other schools still heavily recruiting 4-star 2025 Gators quarterback commit Austin Simmons of Moore Haven (Fla.) — Miami and Ole Miss.
Well, he’s visiting the Rebels on Friday.
Simmons Tweeted out the news early Friday morning, then confirmed it with us. We don’t yet know the expected length of the visit.
To say the least, this is certainly an interesting development.
With Simmons, his recruitment has several unique dynamics. One of them is that he potentially — and many think likely — will reclassify to 2023 and enroll at his college of choice this summer. Another is that he’s also an elite baseball talent who wants to play both sports in college.
Now, there’s this.
Last week, Simmons told Gators Online he was solid with Florida yet obviously this visit is something to monitor.
“Honestly, I’m pretty locked in with Florida, but I’m still open for recruiting at this point,” he said.

Sometime soon, Simmons will reveal whether or not he will reclassify to 2023 and enroll in college this summer. And it’s something he thinks about daily and constantly analyses.
Austin Simmons could reclassify to 2023
“Honestly, yeah. I see more pros than cons (by reclassifying),” Simmons told Gators Online after his spring game. “I could develop in both sports at such a high level. The pros are developing, you know, playing at a high level every single game. Staying under the wing of Coach (Ryan) O’Hara, Coach (Billy) Napier, really understanding their coaching ways and how they can make me a better quarterback, get me prepared for the league and stuff. So, just early development.”
But he said at the time no decision had been made.
“So as of right now, I’m still 2025, playing at Moore Haven Junior/Senior High School. And as of right now, I’m still thinking about going, talking to my family about it, still trying to figure out the pros and cons of graduating that early.”
