GAINESVILLE, Fla. — After facing a reality check last weekend in Jacksonville, the Florida Gators return home looking for their sixth win of the year. They will face the Arkansas Razorbacks, who come in 2-6 and on a six-game losing streak.

The Gators aren’t looking at the Razorbacks’ record and taking them lightly.

Arkansas presents a number of challenges. This is a critical week. They’ve played a lot of close games, they went toe-to-toe with Alabama, A&M, Ole Miss, and LSU. You know, this is a group that has been very competitive and the defense is the strength of their team,” head coach Billy Napier said. “And certainly, they’ve made a change on offense, so I think that creates some challenges for you. So, big week for our team, and right in the middle of preparing for that opportunity.”

The Razorbacks fired offensive coordinator Dan Enos before their bye week. Receivers coach Kenny Guiton will call plays for the Hogs. Guiton has never called plays before but did have a bye week to work and learn.

“We’ve done a lot of non-scripted plays as so Kenny can kind of get in a groove of moving a ball on second and this, so he can have opportunities. We’ve done several two minutes. Yesterday we had a third and six situation with 22 seconds left, just did a situation so we could talk through that as well,” Arkansas head coach Sam Pittman said.

“We ran no timeouts, alert, what are you going to call if you get the ball out of bounds or something to get a first down? Are we going to kill it? All these types of things that I think are going to help him and his calmness. We’ve been working on all those things. He’s been very, very good in those situations. Very, very good in the two-minute situations we ran — moving the ball and moving the chains. It’s easy to look down at a piece of paper and call a play it’s harder when you now know it;’s second and eight, what am I going to call?”
