GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The Florida Gators welcome the No. 11 Tennessee Volunteers to Ben Hill Griffin Stadium this weekend for the 53rd installment of the rivalry. The Gators enter the game 0-1, while Tennessee travels with a 2-0 record.

“Really excited about opening up SEC play. Certainly an Eastern division game against a rival. We’re all well aware of the importance of the game, but we’re really excited about playing at our place. A ton of respect for the opponent,” Billy Napier said on the SEC Teleconference. “They’ve done a nice job with their team. They present issues for you in all three phases. We’re right in the middle of preparation. I’ve been pleased with our team. I thought yesterday in particular we were really sharp. We just continue to dot the i’s and cross the t’s here as we get close to the game.”

Injury report

WR Thai Bowman – lower body – Questionable
TE Tony Livingston – upper body – OUT
LB Ja’Markis Weston – upper body – OUT

Notes

  • The Gators are considerably healthier this week as opposed to last week. The Gators will welcome back center Kingsley Eguakun, quarterback Jack Miller, receiver Marcus Burke, cornerback Devin Moore, and receiver Khaliel Jackson.
  • Despite Burke and Jackson returning, freshman receiver Eugene Wilson is still listed as a starter alongside Caleb Douglas and Ricky Pearsall.
  • Sophomore cornerback Devin Moore missed the Gators’ game against McNeese. Moore was dealing with strep throat. “He’s got strep. You know, pretty significant. Yeah, abscess,” Napier said last week “You know, some just medical, hasn’t been able to practice.” Moore is listed as a potential starter with an “or” between him and Jalen Kimber on the other side of Jason Marshall.
