Florida Gators release first depth chart for 2022 season
GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The Florida Gators will take the field on Saturday under the lights at 7:00 pm. Wednesday night we got a first look at the players that we’ll see against the No. 7 Utah Utes.
“I think will give you some indications there relative to all the players that will play in the game, and contribute to the team, but I would say that it’s probably easier to talk about the positions that aren’t rotational, aren’t in competition,” Napier said. “So I think one of the good things about our team here is we’ve got a core group of veterans, right, but we’ve got a lot of players that have minimal experience that I think are going to be competing throughout the year, so, you know, I think our team in general, that’s a good way to describe our team.”
Everyone knew that Anthony Richardson would be the Gators’ starting quarterback. When Jack Miller went down with a thumb injury the question turned to who would be his backup. That’s a toss-up at the moment between Jalen Kitna and Kyle Engel.
One other note would be the running back depth chart. As Gators Online wrote earlier this week, freshman Trevor Etienne has surpassed Lorenzo Lingard on the depth chart.

“I love Trevor,” starting quarterback Anthony Richardson said Wednesday night. “In the scrimmages and practices when he breaks off a run, I tell people. ‘That kid’s gonna be great.’ I’m happy we’ve got him on our team.”
Rotational players
The two deep isn’t indicative of everyone that will play. It does give you a good idea of the key players on the team. There will be more players involved each Saturday.
“I think one of our philosophies is we play a lot of players. I think you’re going to see a lot of rotational players,” Napier said on the SEC Teleconference. “I think one of the good things about our team here is we’ve got a core group of veterans, right, but we’ve got a lot of players that have minimal experience that I think are going to be competing throughout the year. So, I think our team in general, that’s a good way to describe our team.”
