GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The Florida Gators and Texas A&M Aggies both released their availability reports prior to their game on Saturday. The availability report is a new initiative from the SEC this season. The league is requiring all of its member schools to provide availability reports three days prior to their games for football.

“This availability reporting policy is intended to reduce pressure from outside entities seeking participation information and represents a commitment of our 16 institutions to provide enhanced transparency to support efforts to protect our student-athletes and the integrity of competition,” said SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey.

The four pre-game designations are

  • Out (i.e., will not play/0% chance to play);
  • Doubtful (i.e., unlikely to play/25% chance to play);
  • Questionable (i.e., uncertain to play/50% chance to play); or
  • Probable (i.e., probable to play/75% chance to play).

“The injury reports officially start today. You’ll get that at 10 after 8 (p.m.),” Napier said after practice Wednesday. “We’re just trying not to give out information relative to injuries. … This is all about gambling, right? It’s all about protecting the players, protecting the organization as a whole. Look, you’ll get one tonight, you’ll get another one Thursday, Friday, 90 minutes before the game.

“Ultimately you’re in a category. And I think based off of what they’ve been doing in practice, they would anticipate maybe the information that’s going to get out there. The key is that they don’t make any comment about it. I think that’s the most important part. I think our group’s done a good job of that so far.”
