Florida Gators Transfer Portal Headquarters
The Transfer Portal’s second window runs from April 16-30, and the Florida Gators likely will be on the hunt for more talent. With spring practice now in the books in Gainesville, Billy Napier & Co. hope to further upgrade the roster before the season.
These are three of the program’s biggest needs …
-Receiver: While Eugene Wilson is one of college football’s emerging stars, the Gators could use more firepower at this position for quarterback Graham Mertz. Right now there doesn’t appear to be enough big-play threats in the offense.
-Interior offensive line: The Gators seem to have upgraded some at tackle during the offseason, but now hope to find another piece to improve the interior.
-Tight end: Florida has young talent here, but the Gators might be in the market to add a veteran.

Florida could target other positions as well. And, of course, it’s possible there will be current Gators who decide to find new homes, which would open up more spots.
So basically, it could be a busy stretch for the program.
We will keep you updated on visits (official and otherwise), arrivals and departures. Meanwhile, the scholarship eligibility tracker below will be updated as changes occur.
PORTAL ENTRIES AT POSITIONS OF NEED
TE – Shane Calhoun – Eastern Carolina
The Sunshine State native (St. Augustine) stands 6-4 and weighs 240 pounds. Over his four year career at ECU he hauled in 63 passes for 594 yards and six touchdowns.
WR – Sam Brown — Houston
Brown will be one of the most sought-after players in the portal regardless of position. He had 62 catches for 815 yards and three touchdowns in 2023 — and is listed at 6-foot-2 and 195 pounds. He has two seasons of eligibility remaining.
WR – Sidney Mbanasor – Utah
Mbanasor hails from Texas and was a three-star recruit out of Pflugerville High School. He has played in just four games in two seasons with the Utes. At 6-5, 200 he has great size for the position but doesn’t have the experience that Florida is looking for. A redshirt sophomore, he has some years of eligibility remaining which could be enticing for the Gators.
WR – Justus Ross-Simmons – Colorado State
Ross-Simmons recorded 45 catches for 724 yards and 3 TDs this past season. Ross-Simmons became a starter as a freshman for the Rams. He hauled in 26 passes for 424 yards and three scores as a freshman. Ross-Simmons will have two years of eligibility remaining.
WR – KeAndre Lambert-Smith – Penn State
Lambert-Smith checks a lot of boxes. He’s an experienced pass catcher who led Penn State with 53 catches for 673 yards and four scores last season. According to Pete Nakos, Lambert-Smith is looking for an experienced quarterback and a place where he can be featured in an offense. The Gators have a fifth-year quarterback in Graham Mertz and a huge need for another target outside of Eugene Wilson. This is a fit for both parties.

WR – Karmello English – Michigan
English held offers from Florida, Alabama, Kentucky, and Auburn before picking Michigan. He’s a possession receiver who measured in just under 6’0″. English set the single-season school records for receptions (75), yards (1,059), and touchdowns (18) at Phenix City Central in Alabama. He caught one touchdown pass for the Wolverines during their National Championship run.
WR – Derrick Bohler – Indiana
Bohler graduated from Palmetto High School but is originally from Texas. He took a redshirt last season at Indiana.
TRANSFERES BEING FOLLOWED BY STAFF ON SOCIAL MEDIA
QB – Broc Lowry – Indiana
The Florida quarterback room added two during the first transfer window in Clay Millen and a preferred walk on in Aidan Warner. However UF Director of College Personnell, Bird Sherrill, is following new portal entry Broc Lowry. The Gators would like to have four quarterbacks on scholarship but with Graham Mertz holding down the starting job and D.J. Lagway securing the future for the position it won’t be easy to get a quality quarterback in the portal to compete.
DL – Rene Konga – Rutgers
Florida was able to add several defensive linemen in the transfer portal and feel good about where their line is. That being said, you can always use more depth on both lines of scrimmage. Konga has already been linked to Texas A&M and Kentucky.
