GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The Florida Gators will host the Kentucky Wildcats in a game that could be pivotal for the rest of each of their seasons. Both are coming off losses, Florida in overtime to Tennessee and Kentucky to Vanderbilt at home.

According to lines listed by FanDuel, Kentucky opens as a 1.5-point favorite over Florida. The over/under point total for the contest has been set at 40.5 points.

Florida is in need of a win over Kentucky to end a three-game losing streak. The Gators were close to upsetting Tennessee on Saturday but ultimately fell short. Florida also suffered injuries to starting quarterback Graham Mertz and starting running back Montrell Johnson. The severity of the injuries isn’t known. Billy Napier addressed both players after the Tennessee game.

“I think it’s tough. Obviously Graham played phenomenal in the game. I thought he was lights out. Really prepared well and came to play. He does have an injury, a lower-body injury,” Napier said. “Obviously, we’ll give you some updates on that when we get to next week. It was significant enough that he couldn’t complete the game. I think that Montrell Johnson was in that category as well.”
