TAMPA, FLORIDA — After a strong conclusion to the regular season, the Florida Gators have a chance to finish 2024 in style in Friday’s Gasparilla Bowl vs. Tulane. And there are several reasons Billy Napier’s team is the favorite.

The Gators (7-5), winners of three straight games vs. one of the country’s toughest schedules, are hot. Tulane (9-4), which has lost two in a row, is not. Florida has a healthy starting quarterback in DJ Lagway. Tulane’s full-time starter this season, Darian Mensah, went in the transfer portal so the Wave will turn to his backup, Ty Thompson.

“It’s a good opportunity,” Gators receiver Chimere Dike said this week. “I want to finish the right way.”
