Florida Gators will be well-represented at Super Bowl LVIII
The matchup for Super Bowl LVIII is set. It’ll be Kansas City vs. San Francisco on Feb. 11 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. And once again, the Florida Gators will be well-represented on Super Bowl Sunday. In fact, it will be the 22nd consecutive year a Gator has played on the biggest of football stages, per Nick de la Torre of Gators Online.
Here’s a look at the five former Florida players left standing … they’re all with the Chiefs, who beat Baltimore 17-10 in Sunday’s AFC Championship Game.
– P Tommy Townsend, Kansas City
Regular season stats: 59 punts for 2,776 yards, averaging 47.1 yards; 20 points inside the 20-yard line; 5 touchbacks.
Playoff stats: 10 punts, 46.1 yards per kick.
AFC Championship stats: Townsend punted six times for a 46.5-yard average. He had a long kick of 55 yards. One fourth-quarter punt was downed at the Baltimore 1.
Played at UF: 2016–19

Jawaan Taylor is heading to his first Super Bowl
– OT Jawaan Taylor, Kansas City
Regular season stats:: Taylor started 15 games at tackle for the Chiefs during the regular season. He committed a league-high 20 penalties but only allowed five sacks.
Playoff stats: Three games, three starts.
AFC Championship stats: Taylor started at right tackle. He was called for holding in the third quarter but otherwise seemed to have a productive game.
Played at UF: 2016–18
411: Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes passed for 241 yards and one score Sunday — and Kansas City had 319 total yards. Mahomes was sacked only twice.

411: The Chiefs announced Toney was out of Sunday’s game with a hip injury. But per reports, he took to his Instagram Live to say the team was lying about his injury status. It’s unclear at this time if Toney will be on the Super Bowl roster, but his statements Sunday would seem to throw that into serious question.

Regular season stats: No stats; Dean spent the entire regular season on the Jets’ practice squad before arriving in Kansas City.
