Florida wins 11th national title in track and field under Mike Holloway
The Florida Gators track and field team has captured the NCAA men’s outdoor national championship for the fifth time in program history.
UF scored 54 points on Friday, including 20 from Joseph Fahnbulleh, to the win the men’s 10th overall title and the 11th for head coach Mike Holloway.
Fahnbulleh became the first runner in Florida history to win two individual running events at the same NCAA Outdoor Championships.
After anchoring Florida to a second-place finish in the 4×100 and winning the 100 meters, Fahnbulleh made history in the 200 meters at Hayward Field. He clocked a personal best and school record of 19.83, winning the event for the second straight year.
Fahnbulleh is the ninth individual in men’s program history to win back-to-back NCAA Outdoor Championships and won just the third 100 meters title in Florida history, joining Bernard Williams (2000) and Jeff Demps (2010) in the record books.

With the championship already secured, Florida’s 4×400 relay team went out with a bang.
The Gators carried the baton in 2:58.88, just .35 seconds shy of the collegiate record they set earlier this year. The quartet of Jacory Patterson, Ryan Willie, Jacob Miley and Champion Allison now has three of the fastest six times in NCAA history in the 4×400, including the only two times under 2:59.00.
Florida has now won 10 of the 24 men’s national championship meets since 2010 with five wins indoors and five outdoors. This also marks the second title for Holloway in 2022 after leading the women’s track and field team to the NCAA indoor national championship in March.
