Jarvis Boatwright Jr., a four-star defensive back out of Clearwater, Florida, included the Gators in his top five on Sunday. Other teams in the running for Boatwright include Florida StateSouth CarolinaTennessee and UCF.

Boatwright’s recruitment has been fairly quiet, despite his four-star ranking. According to the On3 Consensus, Boatwright is the No. 318 prospect overall, good enough for the No. 36 safety in his class and the No. 47 prospect in Florida.

Co-defensive coordinator and defensive line coach Sean Spencer and co-defensive coordinator and safeties coach Patrick Toney are Boatwright’s main points of contact when dealing with Florida.

The 6-foot-2, 175-pound safety visited Gainesville for their matchup with Kentucky on Sept. 10 last year.

Growing up in the Sunshine State, Boatwright grew up a Florida fan and called the university his “dream school.”

“Just the family. You’re a Gator; that’s where you want to be at. Also, just seeing the great players that have came out of there and it’s close to home too,” Boatwright said.

Boatwright sees a path to early playing time if Florida is his choice

After his visit last September, Boatwright got to chat it up with Toney about his potential future role at Florida. With Florida’s need for numbers in the safety room, Boatwright could see early playing time.

“Coach (Toney) brought me into a meeting with them and showed me film of the safeties and how they played,” Boatwright told GO last September. “I emphasized that I want to be on the field as a freshman, so he showed me the snaps that freshmen get. I took that into consideration and liked that.

“They let young guys play and I saw that in the game, so I know that wasn’t just talk. He wasn’t just saying that to get me there.”

Gators are out in front, according to On3 RPM

According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM), the Gators are out in front for Boatwright at 94.2%. UCF is behind at 1.5%, with FSU following them at 1.3% and finally South Carolina falling behind the Seminoles at 1.0%.
