Game notes

* Florida plays in its sixth Final Four and its first since 2014, earning the trip in UF’s third season under Todd Golden, who becomes the third coach to lead the Gators to the Final Four.

* The Gators and Tigers square off for a second time this season, as Florida defeated No.1 Auburn on the road on Feb. 8, 90-81. Walter Clayton Jr. played all 40 minutes and led five Gators in double figures with 19 points.

* Florida advanced to the Final Four with a breathtaking rally vs. No. 9 Texas Tech, coming back from nine points down with an 18-4 run over the final three minutes. Thomas Haugh hit a pair of 3-pointers to cut Florida’s deficit to three before Walter Clayton Jr. hit a pair on 3s to tie and take the lead. The Gators’ trio of seniors each took a 2-for-2 trip to the line over the final minute to seal the victory.

* Florida and Maryland square off in the Sweet 16 round after the Gators outlasted UConn in the second round, rallying from a second-half deficit with a 14-3 run.

* Florida imposed its will on the glass vs. Maryland, posting a 42-20 rebounding advantage as 15 offensive boards led to a 21-9 edge in second-chance points. The Gators’ depth also stood out as UF enjoyed a 29-3 bench scoring advantage with both Thomas Haugh and Denzel Aberdeen going for double figures.

* Since NCAA Tournament expansion to 64 teams in 1986, UF is one of seven schools to reach the Final Four under three different head coaches, joining Kansas, Kentucky, North Carolina, Oklahoma, UCLA and UConn.

* Florida’s four double-digit come back wins this season include its Elite Eight win vs. Texas Tech and the Feb. 8 win at Auburn.

* Walter Clayton Jr.’s 668 points this season have him eight behind Andy Owens’ 55-year-old Florida single season record of 676 points, set in the 1969-70 season.

* Clayton’s 1,301 points over his two seasons at UF trail only the legendary Neal Walk’s scoring output over a two-season span (1,312; 1967-69). His 204 3-pointers trail only Lee Humphrey (226, 2005-07) for most by a Gator over two seasons. Clayton has made a 3-pointer in a Florida-record 60 consecutive appearances.
