With Chimere Dike and Elijhah Badger no longer on the roster, the Florida Gators have loaded up with reinforcements at wide receiver for the 2025 season.

One of those additions came by way of the transfer portal in UCLA’s J.Michael Sturdivant. He was one of five players to join the Gators’ roster during the winter transfer window, providing DJ Lagway with much-needed experience on the perimeter.

Last week, ESPN shared its best transfer for each school in the Way-Too-Early Top 25 Rankings, and for the No. 18-ranked Gators, it was Sturdivant who received the nod.

“The Gators needed to add help at wide receiver for quarterback DJ Lagway after their two top wideouts graduated. Sturdivant is a proven playmaker,” said ESPN’s Max Olson.

“The former Freshman All-American has produced 123 career catches for 1,667 yards and 13 touchdowns over three seasons at UCLA and Cal. The 6-foot-3, 205-pound redshirt senior will bring veteran leadership to a receiver room full of promising blue-chip talent including Eugene Wilson IIIAidan Mizell and top-50 incoming recruits Vernell Brown III and Dallas Wilson.”

To add more confidence in Florida’s addition, Sturdivant is the Gators’ highest-rated transfer. He boasts a 4-star ranking and is the No. 111-ranked transfer regardless of position. He has 12 career games with at least one catch of 30 yards or longer and has the potential to become a strong deep threat in 2025.

Even before the 2024 season, Phil Steele ranked Sturdivant as the 16th-best receiver for the 2025 NFL Draft. Those pro aspirations haven’t came to fruition just yet, but the Texas native clearly has Sunday potential.

“I’m excited about J.Michael. I think he’s got a chance to bring some things to the table there,” Billy Napier recently told the media.
