Four-star OL Marcus Mascoll signs with Florida
On3 4-star recruit Marcus Mascoll of Snellville (Ga.) South Gwinnett signed his National Letter of Intent with the Florida Gators on Wednesday, which is National Signing Day. Here’s everything you need to know about him.
Position: Offensive tackle/interior OL
Height/Weight: 6-foot-4.5 /290 pounds
On3 Industry Rankings: No. 437 overall, No. 25 OT, No. 54 in Georgia.
Commitment date: 6/19/23
Chose Florida over: LSU, N.C. State
Time of enrollment: June
Mascoll says: “This is (Billy) Napier’s second year. Heading into his third year there’s going to be a lot of expectations, especially for us. There’s going to be a lot of pressure but we’ve just got to stay locked in as a team and come together. … I think they’re headed in the right direction, especially offensive wise. Defensive wise, just got to clean up the penalties and stuff like that.”
Notable: Mascoll started at tackle in high school, but could play tackle or on the interior at the next level. … On3 was the only major recruiting site to make him a 4-star. … His brother, Justin Mascoll, played on the defensive line at Clemson.

What the Gators are getting in Marcus Mascoll
Scouting report: Mascoll plays tackle at his school and is light on his feet, especially when operating in pass protection. He shows no problem sliding his feet and makes full use of athleticism when playing the position. He is fluid when pulling and getting out in space. This is one of the better athletes at offensive tackle, so his ability to mirror edge rushers stands out.
However, there is no doubt Mascoll has a way to go in the weight room. That will allow him to hold a stronger base in pass protection and play with more leverage. Your technique often lacks when there is a lack of strength, but Mascoll will not be relied upon early on. There is plenty of time to work on his body and get strong enough to play in the SEC. He is aggressive though; there is no doubting that.

Once he strengthens his frame and packs on weight, this could be a prospect who outplays his ranking. The potential is evident due to his athleticism and frame. I don’t believe another 20-30 pounds will affect his athleticism much, as it will likely be well-distributed throughout his body.
All in all, this is a fluid offensive tackle/guard prospect who is nowhere near a finished product. He has the frame and potential to play this game for a long time. He just has to be coachable and dedicated to the weight room. Once Mascoll does those things, his game will reach another level. He has the potential to become a multi-year starter down the road. It’s just about putting it all together. — Corey Bender, On3
