What the Gators are getting in Tavaris Dice
Scouting report … from Corey Bender of Gators Online.
– Dice is at his best when getting downhill as a run blocker. He is an impressive drive blocker who does a good job of pumping his legs until the whistle is blown. More often than not, however, that defender is already on the grass before the play is dead. Once an opponent comes in contact with Dice, it typically doesn’t end well for them, as it’s quite difficult to disengage.

– He doesn’t hold much bad weight and boasts the physical makeup of an athletic prospect for the position (he can play tackle or guard). When offensive linemen get to college, many of them end up shedding bad weight before packing on muscle and quality mass. With Dice, that shouldn’t be the case. He checks in at roughly 6-foot-4, 295 pounds and will pass the eye test sooner than later.
– Dice plays to the whistle more often than not, but even when a player is on the ground, he has a reputation for getting a second shot in. It’s before the whistle is blown though, so it’s not a dirty play. You can tell he enjoys contact and overwhelming opponents. This is the type of offensive lineman you always have to be aware of, and that’s even when the play is not around you. If a defender is in his path, Dice will be looking to add you to his highlight reel. He is strong at the point of attack and makes sure defenders don’t forget who and where he is.
